Mark Rudisill Named New Dean of Social/Behavioral Sciences and the Library Division

Mark Rudisill brings a wealth of academic and administrative expertise to his new role as Dean of the Social/Behavioral Sciences and the Library Division at College of DuPage.         

With 30 years of experience in education and a proud COD alumnus, Rudisill is committed to fostering academic excellence and student success. He aims to enhance the division’s curriculum, promote innovative teaching methodologies and ensure access to quality resources for students and faculty alike.

“My overall goal as dean is to provide the very best learning environment possible for our students, which will be achieved by careful and constant monitoring of student needs with regards to course scheduling and modalities,” he said. “Ensuring my professors have proper resources and administrative support is critical in the student success plan.”

Rudisill earned his Associate in Arts degree at the College and holds both a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Marketing and a master’s degree in Economics from Eastern Illinois University. After completing his graduate studies, Rudisill returned to COD as an adjunct instructor. He also served as an adjunct instructor at prestigious institutions such as Columbia College, George Williams College and the Illinois Institute of Technology.

In 2013, Rudisill transitioned into a full-time faculty position in the Economics program at COD. He served as the division liaison for the Social/Behavioral Sciences and the Library Division and later as the division chair. Rudisill was appointed as interim dean of the division starting in the fall semester of 2021.

Rudisill said his diverse background and deep understanding of the college community will be invaluable assets to the position.

“I have a long personal history with College of DuPage, from being a student to becoming a faculty member,” he said. “I have 30 years of experience teaching college-level economics at multiple institutions, and I have an extensive middle- and upper-level management work history outside of academia. In my new role, I look forward to applying all of this experience to best serve our students and faculty.”
