The Dean of Students office is responsible for the College’s Code of Student Conduct, Code of Academic Conduct, the Behavioral Intervention Team, Sexual Harassment and Misconduct, and assisting students with the complaint process.
Students at College of DuPage are expected to review and understand their role as outlined in Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Code of Student Conduct, Code of Academic Conduct, and the Student Non-academic Complaint Process.
The College of DuPage Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) engages in proactive and collaborative approaches to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with students, faculty, staff, and visitors exhibiting concerning behaviors or thoughts. By partnering with members of the community, the BIT strives to promote individual student, faculty, and staff wellbeing and success while prioritizing community safety.
The College of DuPage Behavioral Intervention Team has been established as a part of the College Campus Threat Assessment and Violence Prevention Plan. The BIT is an interdisciplinary alliance of College departments with the focus on a caring, preventative, early intervention with individuals whose behavior is disruptive or concerning. In addition, the team investigates reports of potential or real violence that have occurred or potentially may occur within the College community. The College recognizes the importance of interdepartmental communication in helping to identify and respond to such acts of violence against self or others.
All forms of academic misconduct including but not limited to cheating, fabrication, plagiarism, or facilitating academic dishonesty go against the core values of College of DuPage. COD seeks to offer students an opportunity to respond to allegations of academic misconduct before a decision is rendered. This policy is intended to provide faculty and students with a fair process for addressing allegations of academic misconduct.
The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to educate students about their social and civic responsibilities as members of the College of DuPage community. It is a community with high standards and high expectations for those who choose to become a part of it, including established rules of conduct intended to foster behaviors that are consistent with a civil and educational setting. Members of the community are expected to comply with all laws, college policies and campus regulations, conducting themselves in ways that support a scholarly environment.
It is the goal of College of DuPage that any disagreements be discussed and resolved in a professional manner. When appropriate, attempts should be made to resolve the issue informally with the individual or department directly involved. If an issue or problem still exists, the following formal complaint process should be followed.

Any violation of this policy in any form should be reported immediately. Actual Knowledge is notice of sexual harassment or allegations of sexual harassment to the Title IX Coordinator or any official of College of DuPage who has authority to institute corrective measures on behalf of the university. Imputation of knowledge based solely on vicarious liability or constructive notice is insufficient to constitute actual knowledge.
All faculty and staff members are encouraged to be "responsible employees" and take the initial information from a victim. After any such incident is reported to a "responsible employee," that employee can contact any one of the following:
