The College of DuPage women's soccer team hosted the Panthers of Morton College in a Region IV quarterfinal matchup and, with a steady dose of offensive firepower, came away with a 4-0 postseason victory.
After 35 minutes of scoreless play, COD opened the scoring with a goal from Katie Castillo to break the 0-0 tie. Shortly after, Mariel Lara found the back of the net to make it 2-0 in less than three minutes.
The Chaparrals carried its momentum into the second half, as Carolina Carreon connected on a goal off an assist from Castillo. With just nine minutes remaining, Carreon returned the favor, setting up Castillo for her second goal of the match to put the Panthers away and secure a berth in the Region IV semifinal.
The Chaps will travel to South Suburban College on Nov. 5 for semifinal action against the Bulldogs. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and the winner will earn the right to play for a Region IV Championship and a berth in the National Championship tournament.
