BioScan Tek, established in 2012 and based in Wheaton IL. A neuro diverse business, the company provides state of the art digital livescan fingerprinting, background checks, ID and digital forensic services both at their location and on location. As a small, woman and disability-owned business enterprise they have worked very hard in growing their business while maintaining their core beliefs. BioScan Tek’s mission is helping someone continue to be an integral part of the community. They strive to lead with their hearts, minds and compassion every day.
Owner Marie Kavadias reached out to Illinois PTAC at the College of DuPage in 2019 when she decided to explore the certification process along with government contracting opportunities. Rita Haake, Program Manager worked closely with Marie providing over 40 advising sessions that resulted in Marie completing SAM.gov and IL. Procurement Gateway government vendor registrations and assisted with the submission of her applications that awarded the following certifications: Illinois Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE); US SBA Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB/EDWOSB); Illinois Central Management Services BEP Women Business Enterprise (WBE) and Cook County Women Business Enterprise (WBE) and Business Enterprise Physically Disabled (BEPD).
Certifications were just a start. Marie has taken advantage of comprehensive services offered which include Bid Match, Bid Buy Capability Statement creation, marketing research and ongoing review of solicitations. BioScan Tek diligently reviews the bid opportunities received daily to find opportunities that match the company capability in order to respond to and capitalize on open contract opportunities. BioScan Tek has proven successful in approach and has been awarded multiple contracts from agencies that include DuPage Airport Authority and from the TSA in conjunction with National Air Transportation Association.
"Working with Illinois PTAC assisted us with the certifications we needed in order to be competitive in the market and accomplish our bigger goals. It also gave BioScan Tek an opportunity to network with government and local agencies where we may not have been able to access without the needed assistance. Trying to get your certifications is not an easy task and we were happy to find the assistance. Rita Haake also always took the necessary time to answer any questions we had and jump in to assist when needed. As a neuro diverse business we try our best to fulfill all our goals and this program just gave us the extra insight to the process we needed. BioScan Tek has grown as a result of Illinois PTAC and we have worked with WorkNet DuPage to engineer a special paid internship program for neuro diverse individuals staring 2022".
