The Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (ICAPS) prepares students for high-demand jobs with great salaries. 

New Advanced Adult ELA Students: ICAPS programs are also available to those interested in earning a credential while further developing English language skills.

Programs

These programs provide hands-on training and industry-recognized credentials to prepare students for in-demand healthcare careers.

Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program (CNATP) prepares students for employment as entry-level certified nurse assistants (CNA) through a combination of classroom and clinical education. The program emphasizes basic nursing assistant skills and related knowledge and can be completed in one semester.

  • One-semester commitment required to earn 6 college credits
  • In-person instruction, offered during daytime hours
  • Includes ELA support course
  • Upon completion, graduates will have credentials to work in a hospital or medical facility

Central Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certificate

Central Sterile Processing Distribution Technicians are responsible for performing and participating in the decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, assembling, packaging, scanning, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.

  • Two-semester commitment required to earn 12 college credits
  • Practicum in a medical facility during the second semester
  • Includes ELA support course
  • Upon completion, graduates will have credentials to work in a hospital or medical facility 

HSE Students

Your first step is to take the TABE test. See our testing center locations and hours. Allow two hours and 30 minutes for the test and bring your test results to the College of DuPage Adult Education Office in the Student Resource Center (SRC), Room 1110. The office is open Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

ELA Students

Your first step is to take the CASAS test. See our testing locations and hours. Call our office to make an appointment at (630) 942-3697. Allow three hours for the test and bring a copy of your test results to the Adult Education office in the Student Resource Center (SRC) Room 1110.

Approximately 37 percent of the Illinois Adult Education and Literacy Program cost at COD is federally funded under Title II, Adult Education and Family Literacy of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
