High School Equivalency

The purpose of the High School Equivalency (HSE) program is to measure the educational development of adults who have not completed their formal high school education through the GED exam.

Candidates may earn an Illinois High School Equivalency Certificate and qualify for admission to colleges or other educational institutions, meet educational requirements for employment or promotion, satisfy educational qualifications for induction into the armed services, fulfill requirements of local or state licensing boards or gain personal satisfaction.

Eligibility

Out of school youths and adults without a high school diploma are eligible to take HSE exams. No test preparation is required, but tuition-free classes are available. Students need to pass the Illinois Constitution requirement to earn their HSE. An HSE is not required to take classes at College of DuPage.
