National Recognition Highlights Support for Veterans
By Angela Mennecke

College of DuPage has been recognized nationally for its support of military students, earning the 2026-2027 Military Friendly School designation from VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned publication focused on post-military education and employment.
Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses to a proprietary survey.
“College of DuPage proudly supports the educational goals of our veteran students by providing the resources they need to succeed,” said Director of Veterans Services Sheri Gross. “This designation reflects our ongoing commitment to serving veterans and helping them achieve their academic and career goals.”
Gross said the College recognizes that the needs of students returning from active duty extend beyond those of traditional students and strives to make the transition to college as seamless as possible.
“Our Veterans Services staff provides support in a variety of areas for those re-acclimating to civilian life and higher education,” she said. “From connecting students with their educational benefits to helping them access campus and community resources, we aim to put every student on a path to success, from degree completion to employment.”
The College recognizes several tuition-based veteran education bills, including the Montgomery G.I. Bill for Active Duty, Survivors and Dependent Educational Assistance Program and the Reserve Educational Assistance Program.
The College also accepts the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, which provides up to 100% of tuition and fees, a monthly housing allowance, and an annual book and supply stipend of up to $1,000 for qualifying veterans.
