The Learning Commons offers COD students free academic support through course-based tutoring, math, writing, reading and speech assistance, placement test review, general education development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL) support and help navigating myACCESS and Blackboard.
Students can receive tutoring support in-person and online at the Learning Commons located in the Student Resource Center (SRC) 2102 on the Glen Ellyn campus. Testing and support services are also available at the COD off-campus Learning Commons in Addison, Carol Stream, Naperville and Westmont, along with computers, printing, Wi-Fi, college library website assistance and study space. Hours vary by service and location.
Services are free for currently enrolled students. Learning Commons policies and procedures must be followed by students when working with tutors, coaches and staff.
Placement testing is offered in the Testing Center located on the Glen Ellyn main campus and at all of the COD Centers. Testing hours vary by location. Free placement testing information sessions are also available to help COD students prepare for testing.
Learning Commons workshops are open to all COD students and provide strategies for study skills, time management, as well as tips for maintaining a positive attitude throughout the semester.
