Jack’s Lunchbox/Righteous Kitchen

Righteous, Honest and Excellent: It all started with Jack’s Lunchbox. Like a note from Mom in the lunchbox, Jack’s packs honest to goodness, real, homemade lunches each day to bring a smile to lunchtime. They promise to stay away from artificial ingredients and only use nut-free recipes. Jack’s currently serves about 6000 meals per week to school kids throughout Chicagoland - from infants through high school!

The concept took flight that made the little kitchen burst. Jack’s Lunchbox and Righteous Kitchen needed a space to increase capacity. The came to their local SBDC for resources to help with a business plan for the local municipality. Their advisor at the Illinois SBDC at College of DuPage assisted them with their strategy, location, build-out and capitalization. Now Jack’s Lunchbox/Righteous Kitchen is also a local, family owned catering company that specializes in fresh, all-natural meal prep and delivery to your home for your family. They shop, chop, create, cook, and cool. The customer orders, heats, and eats! Kitchens do not get more righteous than that! Righteous Kitchen also specializes is large volume drop-off catering for holidays, parties, events, offices, schools, and more!

Mimi and Matt Tolkien said this about the SBDC at College of DuPage “The Small Business Development Center played an important part in navigating the expansion of our small business. The day-to-day operations of owning a small family business is hard enough, trying to manage a major expansion on top of that was a bit overwhelming, but with the help of the SBDC we were able to narrow our focus to accomplish what was needed: they helped us flesh out a precise expansion plan to help get the necessary funding and grants that we needed. The expansion was so successful that we're even looking ahead towards another one sooner than expected and we'll definitely be relying on the expertise of the SBDC for that as well."
