Student Stories: Kayla Babiak

Major: Business

Kayla Babiak felt prepared to reach her goals after attending College of DuPage.

“I was challenged to work with a variety of people, which improved my communication skills,” she said. “Personally, I gained many friends at College of DuPage thanks to the small class sizes.”

Scholarships at COD

Babiak chose College of DuPage because of the affordable tuition rates and the location of the Naperville Center, where she took many of her general education classes. She also received the Rotary Club of Naperville Charities Scholarship from the College of DuPage Foundation.

“The scholarship helped me by relieving the burden of student loans,” she said. “I was able to focus on my studies much more because I didn’t have to worry about paying for my first year of college. I am very thankful for the Naperville Rotary organization for giving me an amazing opportunity to succeed.”

After earning her associate’s degree, Babiak married, changed jobs and took a gap year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to pursue a degree in finance. She was the only person in her class to graduate from the Lubar School of Business with a 4.0 GPA. Immediately after graduation, she secured a job in the accounting department at JX Enterprises, which sells, leases and repairs semi-trucks, and currently is a staff accountant.

The teachers are extremely helpful and passionate about their careers.

Babiak recommends College of DuPage to any prospective student for a variety of reasons.

“The teachers are extremely helpful and passionate about their careers. In addition, College of DuPage offers many different financial aid options. This can help any student to save money while getting the best education possible,” she said. “Another great thing is the small class size. Because of this, you are often able to get one-on-one help from teachers as well as interactive class work.

“I just want to thank College of DuPage. I received a supreme education while not having to worry about student loans. I have no regrets about attending COD.”
