General Processing Information:

After filing your 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online www.fafsa.gov, the Office of Student Financial Assistance will receive your results electronically within 7 days. Please Note: You must first be admitted to COD before we can download your FAFSA results. After our office receives your results electronically, an email will be sent to your COD email address to request additional information based on your results. This information can also be viewed in your myACCESS under Communication. The Office of Student Financial Aid will send out three requests for additional information, after which you will no longer receive notices for missing information. It is your responsibility to check your COD email account regularly!

Some students may be required to submit proof of citizenship, default status, veteran status, verification of Social Security number and/or proof of Illinois residency. In addition, the Federal Processor randomly selects students for "Verification." If your FAFSA is selected for "Verification," you are required to submit copies of your signed Federal Tax Return (and your spouse's if married or parents' if dependent) to the Office of Student Financial Aid.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Processing time is dependent upon the volume of applications and/or corrections and may take eight (8) to ten (10) weeks after all required documents are received by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Application processing usually does not occur during the first two (2) weeks of each semester.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance will not accept incomplete or partial information. Your file will not be processed until all required documents are received.
