Active Violence Drill Pre-Training
- Facilitator: COD Public Safety Department
SAFTY-0511
On April 10th at 8:00 AM College of Dupage, Glen Ellyn campus, will conduct an informational
drill regarding acts of violence on campus.
This means we are announcing the drill beforehand and offering multiple training opportunities
for staff prior to the event. The event itself will start with a PA announcement and
we will ask that faculty and staff discuss their choice of responses based upon their
training and proximity to the event. We will give staff a few minutes and have one
inject. We will then ask them to consider its effect on their plan. We will then end
the drill and put out a survey to gather feedback in an organized fashion, using it
to direct our preparation for the fall, when we will hold an actual, moving drill.
As part of ongoing preparations for our active violence drill, we are hosting four
training sessions designed to specifically address options, methods of evaluating
options, and the practical means to carry out decisions based upon those options,
in the case of violence. Anyone who would like more information about how to increase
their personal safety and safety of those around them is encouraged to attend
Armchair Career Exploration
- Facilitator: Marge Peters
GENL-0530
When students ask faculty and staff members for help in choosing careers, finding occupational information, and locating schools for further education, a Google search often leads to biased, dated, and sponsored/commercial websites. This workshop will help COD teachers and staff to learn how to use the most credible and up-to-date websites and databases on their office computers.
The Great COD Scavenger Hunt
- Facilitator: Self Study
GENL-0528
The Great COD Scavenger Hunt puts you in the driver seat of your own campus-wide adventure. Explore new spaces while falling in love all over again with those spaces you already know. Using clues and a campus map you can help solve the mystery behind the disappearance of "Dr. Horace Hatsfield" – a professor at College of DuPage. Once registered you will be emailed how to access the clues and campus map via Blackboard.
Safe Zone Training
- Facilitator: LGBT Safe Zone Committee
GENL-0526
The mission of the Safe Zone Ally Program is to provide a network of safe and supportive allies to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community at College of DuPage. This interactive training will discuss possible barriers students face and strategies to help support them in either your office or classroom.
