Optometry
1. Check with the individual optometry school for requirements.
Common minimum prerequisite coursework includes the following:
- English 1101, 1102
- Psychology 1100 (a 200-level psychology course may be acceptable)
- Biology 1151, 1152
- Chemistry 1551 (Math 1431 or equivalent needs to have been taken or be taken at the same time a student enrolls in Chemistry 1551) and 1552 (inorganic); Chemistry 2551 and 2552 (organic)
- Math 1635 (Statistics) as well as Integral and differential calculus: Math 2231, 2232 and possibly 2233. The sequence to Math 2231 is Math 1431 > Math 1432 > Math 2231 > Math 2231.
- Physics 1201, 1202
- Microbiology 1420
- Social Science: 3 semester credits (an additional psychology course, Economics 2201 or 2202, or political science)
- Addional recommended elective coursework includes Anatomy and Physiology 1151 and 1152 or 1571 and 1572; Biology 1120; computer science; business; economics; sociology; speech courses in public speaking; and additoinal psychology courses.
