Welcome to the Nursing programs web site at College
of DuPage. Nursing is a challenging, yet rewarding career. The job outlook
for the Nursing profession is excellent – the Bureau of Labor Statistics
projects that by 2010 there will be about one million new jobs available
for nurses at all levels.
College of DuPage offers an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree
in nursing, as well as a Certified Nursing program and a Pre-Bachelor
of Science in Nursing transfer program.
The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at College of DuPage is
a sequential, two-year program that begins every fall quarter. Potential
candidates must complete an application packet, which also includes information
regarding the college’s nursing program and admission criteria.
Upon admission, students must complete the Certified Nursing Assistant
(CNA program). After successful completion of the ADN program, a student
is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination. Students who receive
licensure can either begin their careers, or continue their education
by applying to one of several RN-BSN completion programs offered throughout
the Chicagoland area.
As an alternative, students interested in pursuing a Pre-Bachelor of Science
in Nursing degree at the onset of their education can consult a faculty
advisor or the Counseling and Advising office to plan coursework for transferring
to a BSN program of their choice.
