Obtaining CE-marking is an essential but costly project for exporters selling to the EU. In the past few years, many medical device manufacturers find themselves working on product compliance projects to stay compliant with the latest European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR). There is no expectation for Wheaton Brace Co., a manufacturer in Carol Stream, IL, focusing on orthopedic care solutions for children worldwide.
Pauline Kee, the Business Manager reached out to Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at College of DuPage to get assistance in navigating through the new regulations. The advisor not only promptly responded to the inquiry but also introduced Wheaton Brace Co., to the ISTEP grant.
From grant package preparation to the virtual site visit, Illinois SBDC ITC walked every step with them to ensure a smooth process. Besides successfully obtaining the grant approval, the advisor served as the go-to person for any export-related questions Pauline and her team have. The areas of assistance range from export documentation, company due diligence, distributor management, etc.
“The advisor has been a great help to us in the beginning while we explored our way in the EU compliance process. With their assistance, we were able to get the ISTEP funding to lower our financial burden in the compliance process. We really appreciate her effort and knowledge in this area, and we will continue to work with her in exploring other international markets. Thumbs up to the ITC team!”
Refining the current exporting procedure and market expansion are two main tasks for Pauline and the team to tackle. We look forward to continuing our supports to them.
