- Attend Adjunct Faculty New Hire Orientation
COD's 2 hour orientation sessions provide new adjunct instructors with the essentials tools for success during the upcoming semester.
Adjunct faculty orientations are a mandatory 2 hour session to prepare adjuncts for the upcoming semester. During the onboarding process you are given information about the dates and how to register.

The intention of the classroom observation process is to learn about your teaching approach and generate a supportive conversation about teaching effectiveness.
Purpose of Classroom Observations
As we are committed to students’ achieving their goals at College of DuPage, we are invested in you, our adjunct faculty.
The intention of the classroom observation process is to learn about your teaching approach and generate a supportive conversation about teaching effectiveness.
All adjunct faculty who are new to teaching at the College can expect to have a class observation within the first semester of teaching. The Office of Adjunct Faculty Support aims to observe all adjunct faculty within the teaching body on a cycling basis.
You will receive an invitation via email proposing a date and time to observe your class.
If you are having a test during the time of the observation, you can propose a different time. The purpose is to observe a typical class.
The Office of Adjunct Faculty Support (Manager or Assistant Dean)
Once the observation has been confirmed, you can complete the Pre-Observation form in Digital Measures/Faculty Success.
The Pre-Observation Form invites you to articulate your classroom objectives and methods of assessment and provides the observer with a sense of what your priorities and intentions are. The form is expected to be shared with the observer no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled visit.
The observer will complete a report assessing various teaching and learning strategies. A copy of the rubric can be found under “Ratings” in your Digital Measures/Faculty Success account.
The rubric is designed to be a formative assessment to generate a constructive conversation about teaching effectiveness.
After the observation report has been released by the observer, a post-observation conference will be scheduled at your convenience.
The Adjunct Faculty Support office will host the conference. The Dean and department chair/coordinator is invited to the conference. The purpose of the conference is to have a constructive conversation about teaching effectiveness. An intended outcome of the conference is for adjunct faculty to identify professional development goals with continued support from the division and AFS.
Created at the College of DuPage in 2016, the purpose of the Adjunct Faculty Training Institute is to provide a comprehensive program of professional development for adjunct faculty at the College of DuPage and other colleges and universities. Professional education offered at the Adjunct Faculty Training Institute is designed to offer best-practice teaching strategies, increase student achievement, reduce student withdrawal rates, and increase student success.
To enter teaching availability and accept or decline course offerings, go to inside.cod.edu and under myACCESS, select MYACCESS for Faculty.
From there, click on Faculty Information and either Adjunct Faculty Availability to enter your availability for an upcoming semester, or Adjunct Faculty Class Section Appointment to either accept or decline your course offering.
