The Hanson Center's therapeutic horsemanship program specializes in serving persons with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs. The program offers beginning and intermediate English and Western riding lessons for children and adults, beginning at age four.
Lessons are offered year-round in six week sessions, Monday through Saturday. Lessons are conducted in the Center's heated indoor arena, "Marcia's Place."
Therapeutic riding is proven to have many benefits for people with disabilities. Some benefits of therapeutic riding include improved coordination and muscle tone, improved respiratory system, stretching of contracted muscles, and increased self-confidence.
