Sponsors and donors enjoyed an early look at the "Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World” exhibition before its May 31 opening. The exhibition, currently open at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art (CCMA) at College of DuPage’s McAninch Arts Center (MAC), brings 17th-century Japan to life through meticulously crafted recreations, immersive experiences, hands-on activities and historical exhibits.
Joined by COD Interim President Dr. Christine Hammond and Board Chair Christine Fenne, MAC Executive Director Diana Martinez and CCMA and Exhibition Curator Justine Witte unveiled the multi-faceted exhibition, which centers around the world-class presentation of a 70-piece collection making its U.S. debut, featured as the “Museum Galleries – Chiossone Collection” in the exhibition. The collection features 53 paintings and woodblock prints by the masters of ukiyo-e, including original works by Hokusai, Hiroshige and their contemporaries, and 17 handcrafted objects.
Tickets are currently on sale for the exhibition, which runs through Sunday, Sept. 21.
