HSTI offers a variety of classes for law enforcement and citizens. New classes are added to the following categories on a weekly basis.
HSTI is going green! Most classes will require students to bring a laptop, tablet or phone to access course documentation as paper handouts will no longer be provided.
HSTI Classes
- Law Enforcement - municipal, state and federal sworn law enforcement. Professionals who enforce laws, investigate crimes and make arrests.
- Emergency Management Academy - Local and county elected and appointed officials. Emergency Planners, emergency management, representatives of whole community partners, and governmental and private sector planners.
- Emergency Response - Public safety personnel and citizens who work to mitigate the impact of an incident on human life and property. Individuals who plan and respond to an unexpected and dangerous occurrence in an attempt to mitigate it impact on people or the environment. Emergency situations can range from natural to man-made disasters.
- Corporate Security - Professionals that plan for, identify and effectively mitigate or manage any developments that may threaten the resilience and continued survival of a business. Individuals who are concerned with the security, continuity and safety of a business and its employees.
- Community Members - All individuals or members of DuPage county and the surrounding area.
- Firearm Safety - Classes offered to teach interested, vetted individuals the rules and recommendations on handling, owning, transporting and firing a firearm in a safe and lawful manor to eliminate or minimize the risks caused by improper knowledge or use.
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) – Classes for individuals interested in learning or earning a FAA license to pilot an aircraft by remote control or onboard computers. UAV commonly known as a drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. UAVs are used in a wide range of uses ranging from search and rescue, surveillance, traffic monitoring, weather monitoring, firefighting, photography, travel, videography, agriculture and delivery services.
