About

Mark A. Pearson, AIA

I am a Professor of Architecture at College of DuPage, where I have been a full time faculty member since 2004.  I am a Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois and a LEED accredited professional.

My primary teaching responsibilities at COD include teaching the second year architectural design, presentation, portfolio and visualization courses. I have also initiated the design + build summer studio, a grant funded experiential learning opportunity for architecture students to design and construct small structures on campus.  In 2017 one of these design build projects won a distinguished project merit award from the AIA Northeast Illinois chapter.  In addition, I have previously co-developed and co-taught the “Sustainable Design Initiatives” course which partnered students with the DuPage Habitat for Humanity to help identify sustainable strategies that could be incorporated into affordable housing. In 2009 the Sustainable Design Initiatives course received an Excellence in Green Building Education Honor Award from the United States Green Building Council.

Prior to joining COD I have professional practice experience with the Chicago architecture firms of Skidmore Owings and Merrill and Frye Gillan Molinaro Architects. I have a BS in Architectural Studies degree and an M-ARCH degree with a concentration in design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
