Virtual Event - To Save and Heal: Our Natural Hidden PowersTuesday, 13 April, 2021
Presented as part of COD Cares' Roll Up Your Sleeves Blood Drive and Organ Donation Awareness Campaign
One registered organ, eye and tissue donor can save and heal more than 75 lives. Every two seconds, someone needs blood in the United States. These sobering statistics highlight the need to unleash the natural hidden powers within all humans to save and heal others.
Join the conversation with College of DuPage faculty experts, Dilyss Gallyot, Interim Dean of Health Sciences and Coronavirus Task Force Chair, and Mitzi Thomas, Assistant Professor in the Ophthalmic Technician program. Go behind the scenes of a blood bank with Dr. Christina Barriteau, Northwestern Medicine's Attending Physician of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation.
Additionally, COD alumna Katie Adduci will discuss the living donor experience and give an update on her son and COD Cares' friend, Max Adduci, who, after receiving his mom's kidney as an infant, has incurred several blood transfusions in his young life. Watch Max's video from a previous COD Cares blood drive.
