Virtual Event - Illinois Severe Weather PreparednessWednesday, 03 March, 2021
The first week of March is “Severe Weather Preparedness Week” in Illinois. Our state experiences the whole gamut of significant weather from wind storms to tornadoes to devastating snow and ice storms. College of DuPage Meteorology Professor Paul Sirvatka summarizes the nature and climatology of these threats and discusses how you can be prepared and stay safe “when the wind comes sweeping down the plains!”
Sirvatka is nationally known as having developed the most comprehensive community college meteorology program in the country. It includes the NeXt Generation Weather Lab, as well as popular - and exciting! - storm chasing trips for students and the public.
