The Surgical Assistant (SA) Program is an intensive advanced certificate program. SA core classes are in an online format and students will be expected to attend clinicals as they are available in order to complete the 140 case requirement. The program will consist of a suture lab and clinical experience. The student is responsible for securing his/her own clinical site.
At the completion of SA courses, students will be awarded a College of DuPage Surgical Assistant Certificate. College of DuPage Surgical Assistant program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); therefore, following completion of certificate requirements, students must apply and sit for the national CAAHEP certification examination.
Refer to the College of DuPage Catalog that was in effect at the time of your original enrollment (unless you have not been enrolled for more than four consecutive quarters) for degree requirements, course descriptions and academic regulations.
Meet with the advisor listed in this guide to discuss which courses to take, especially if you are pursuing a degree in this field. Consult Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services to obtain a copy of requirements detailed in the Student Planning Worksheet.
