Teacher lectures to accounting class

Choosing the Right Degree Program

The College of DuPage Accounting program offers several course sequences that are designed to provide flexibility for students as they begin the process of deciding which degree (A.A. or A.A.S) is right for them. Required and elective courses that are common to both degrees (highlighted below) have been incorporated into the sequences during the first three quarters of study. Students who follow one of these suggested sequences by taking courses common to both degree programs will keep their options open during their first three quarters at College of DuPage. However, due to differences in the requirements of the two degrees after the first three quarters, students must decide whether to pursue an A.A. or A.A.S. degree before registering for the second semester of classes.

A student's course sequences are suggestions that can and should be tailored to best meet a student’s needs and goals. This is especially true if a student decides to transfer to a baccalaureate-granting institution, as colleges and universities have varying transfer requirements. Students who plan to transfer to a four-year school should visit Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services to obtain and review Transfer Planning Guides that are available from a wide variety of institutions.

It is also recommended that accounting students meet periodically with a program advisor to determine progress made and future course selections for their area of study.
