State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement

The U.S. Department of Education requires institutions offering distance education to students outside the institution’s home state to be authorized in the students’ state of residence. Illinois is a State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) state. SARA is a voluntary organization that makes it easier for students to take distance education courses from institutions in other states by establishing standards that member institutions agree to follow. College of DuPage joined SARA in 2018.
