Major: Associate in Arts
Amy Herz wasn’t sure what career to pursue when she started college.
Thankfully, College of DuPage gave her the time to decide what interested her. It helped that she was named a Presidential Scholar, which provided a full-tuition scholarship and enrollment in COD’s Honors program and the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.
It was an offer she couldn’t pass up.
“Having the Presidential Scholarship really pushed me to keep my grades up and take more classes so I had something to be proud of when I graduated and transferred,” she said. “I’m also thankful to COD for the opportunity to feel out what courses I liked before picking a major.”
She loves music and math, and she thought about a career in musical engineering in order to tie these two interests together. However, she decided to go in a different direction and earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating Cum Laude and in the Honors College as well as being named to the Dean’s List.
After working at Quinnox, a tech-driven business service partner for enterprises, and as a senior salesforce analyst at West Monroe, a tech consulting company, she is now a Salesforce Developer at AmericanEagle.com, a web development agency.
College of DuPage allowed Herz to explore her interests and she is grateful for those opportunities.
“In the end, I received a great education at a discount when compared to going all four years somewhere else,” she said. “I’m excited about having a career that I enjoy going to every day.”
