Faculty Stories: Casey Slott

Casey Slott

Program: Speech Communication

Casey Slott first became interested in speech as a graduate student.

“I was told that I had to teach a public speaking class as part of my graduate studies,” he said. “This was my first experience teaching a speech communication class and I enjoyed the challenge.”

Slott – who earned his master’s and Ph.D. at Dusquesne University – taught various communication classes at colleges in Colorado and Pennsylvania before coming to College of DuPage.

“I fell into teaching because it was offered to me as an opportunity. I enjoyed it, so I made it my career,” he said.

As for his students, Slott wants them to learn how to think for themselves.

“I am inspired by students who make the extra effort to try and produce excellent work,” he said.
