President's Message

Greetings District 502 Community:

Let me begin by thanking you for your support as we continue to navigate through the challenges of a global pandemic. This is by no means easy. But the good news is that we have successfully risen to the occasion to meet the needs of our students, faculty, staff and key stakeholders.

Together, we are better!

Our hard work was also recognized by Forbes Magazine with College of DuPage being recently named to the national publication's prestigious list of America’s Best Midsized Employers for 2021. We are deeply grateful for this honor.

It is equally rewarding to see our students in-person and buzzing through the hallways. The energy is magnetic and serves as the necessary momentum for education and innovation to take place at COD. Students now have the phenomenal opportunity to expand their knowledge in our new enhanced technology speech and AV/VR classrooms, completed earlier this year. These two educational platforms provide additional pathways to learn and grow.

I also had the opportunity to meet several of our student ambassadors who have a sincere passion for helping others while sharpening their leadership and critical thinking skills. The fall term began with the annual Chaparral Days, which included two weeks of a host of activities designed to foster student engagement. I even joined in on the fun and was challenged to an outdoor game of cornhole.

In addition to student success, the arts are also an important component for the College-wide community and its future. It is hard to believe that just last week we completed the final showing of our fabulous Frida Kahlo: Timeless exhibition. Proven to be a world-class artistic experience, thousands of people from around the globe visited our campus and have not stopped talking about this outstanding exhibit—from Facebook to Twitter to Instagram. The MAC is also resuming its performing arts series and now has live shows with performers from around the world to include the Texas Tenors and The High Kings. As if that’s not enough, already we are making plans for our next exhibit, which we will unveil in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

As we head further into the fall term, I encourage you to visit our campus and the centers. I hope that you will take full advantage of all that the College has available. College of DuPage is here for you and has much to offer from the Library to the Fitness Center and more than 170 certificates and 50 areas of study.

We are your community college!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian Caputo
