Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K

A little rain could never dampen the spirits of runners, walkers and foodies at the final COD Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K Saturday, Oct. 5. More than 2,300 guests enjoyed various cuisines from 15 food trucks, stage entertainment presented by COD professors and Glen Ellyn School of Rock, an expanded Touch-a-Truck lot, and the last ever Sunset 5K.

The best part is 15 Sunset 5K scholarship recipients were awarded full tuition toward Spring 2020 at COD with funds generously donated by race participants and corporate sponsors.  Event organizers would like to thank the people who have gone above and beyond to make this event smooth and successful. It's nearly impossible to list all the ways more than 150 COD staff, faculty, students, and community volunteers have helped. Many have been involved all nine years!

A video of the day will be released soon, but check out the photos here.

Sponsors make the world go round.

We simply couldn't put on this event and raise money for student scholarships without the generous support of businesses.  If you would like information about becoming a sponsor, please contact Ami Chambers, Race Co-Director.

Thank you for making the 2018 COD Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5k a success!

Nearly 3,000 guests gathered at College of DuPage's Glen Ellyn campus to sample food from 16 area food truck vendors and raise funds for COD student scholarships at the 2018 Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5k. The Oct. 13 event featured free kids' games, a "touch-a-truck," an exciting stage performance by the Glen Ellyn School of Rock house band, and demonstrations from COD culinary, chemistry, and welding faculty members.

  • 1,200 racers from 11 states(!) registered for a scenic 5k race through COD's campus.
  • Relive all the excitement on the Flickr Gallery and video

So Where Do the Proceeds Go?

Student scholarships, of course! According to NBC News, the net impact of the student loan crisis is a drag on the broader economy with millions of young Americans having less money to spend on goods and services, and big-ticket items like homes and cars.  When you register for either the 5K Run/Walk or the 100-Yard Youth Dash, designate your race fee to the high school district of your choice.
