2012 Financial Aid 101 Information Sessions

The Office of Student Financial Assistance will host information sessions on financial aid to help you navigate and understand this often confusing topic. All sessions are free and open to current and prospective students.

All Sessions are held in the Student Services Center (SSC), Room 2201.

Important Information About the FAFSA

Don’t wait to file your 2012-2013 FAFSA. By completing the FAFSA you are applying for state and federal financial aid in the form of grants, loans and work study.  The 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available online at www.fafsa.gov.  Don't delay - apply today!! 

Be sure to apply for a Federal Student Aid PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Dependent students should make sure one parent has applied for a PIN, as well.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance will be hosting FREE FAFSA Completion Sessions.  To reserve your spot please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Effective for 2012-2013

Students and parents are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool when completing the tax portion of the FAFSA. It streamlines the application and awarding process and reduces errors. Filing your taxes at least two weeks before the session provides you the opportunity to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool.

 

As a safeguard, students and parents should bring the following information with them to file a 2012-2013 FAFSA:

  • Student’s 2011 Federal Tax Return (if dependent and/or married, bring parents’ and/or spouse’s return)
  • Student’s 2011 W2 Forms
  • Records of untaxed income
  • Investment/Asset/Business/Farm Value
