1 Biographies for Reference Services: Virtual, Digital, and In-Library - a New Model for Effective Delivery Barbara FisterBarbara Fister is coordinator of instruction at the Gustavus Adolphus College Library. She has published a number of articles on information literacy in the Journal of Academic Librarianship, the Chronicle Review and elsewhere, and has recently published a mystery, On Edge. Susan GodlewskiSusan Godlewski is the Coordinator of Reference Services for the Boston Public Library. She has written extensively about and presented several programs on the issues of reference services, and most recently, remote reference delivery. She previously served as Boston Public Library's Curator of Rare Books. She has also held positions at the Lilly Library at Indiana University and the Providence Public Library. David LankesDavid Lankes is the Director of the Information Institute of Syracuse (IIS) and an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University's School of Information Studies. Dr. Lankes' research is in education information and digital reference services. He has authored books and written numerous book chapters and journal articles on the Internet and digital reference. Susan McGlamerySusan McGlamery is the Reference Coordinator for the Metropolitan Cooperative Library System, a consortium of 40 public libraries located in Los Angeles and Orange County. She has an extensive history of managing reference services in legal, corporate and public library environments. Jim RettigJames Rettig is the University Librarian at the University of Richmond. Mr. Rettig is a requested speaker at library conferences and meetings. He is a frequent contributor to the professional literature on reference topics. His column "Rettig on Reference" ran for several years on the gale.com site. In addition, Mr. Rettig has served on numerous boards and committees. Carrie RussellCarrie Russell is a Copyright Specialist at the ALA Office for Information Technology Policy. She develops copyright education programs for ALA, working to ensure that members understand the latest trends regarding copyright protections and how these trends may impact libraries and affect freedom of access to information. Carrie has given presentations and workshops on copyright issues at state and national library conferences and is the author of several educational brochures and articles on copyright issues for library publications. John SmallJohn Small is Assistant Professor of Library Services and the Electronic Resources Librarian at The Kirkpatrick Library, Central Missouri State University. He has been active in technology issues in libraries since coming to CMSU in 1993. John has an MALIS and an ABD in Information Systems. He is responsible for technology initiatives in the 3-year-old state of the art Kirkpatrick Library, and has lectured on technology related issues nationally and internationally.
