for a Great 3rd year in our Reference series! Realities of Digital Reference: Challenges, Tools, and Opportunities Satellite-Delivered Teleconferences February 6 and April 16, 2004
Friday,
April 16, 2004, Noon to 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) Great Teleconference! We've provided the slides for you. Also, a number of our viewers asked us to stream the vendor presentations from the "New Tools for Enhancing Digital Reference" teleconference in February 2004. These presentations are streamed to answer the requests of our teleconference audience and are presented for information only. College of DuPage has neither solicited nor received any promotional considerations from these vendors and their presence on this web site does not constitute an endorsement of any particular product or vendor. Select the version to watch, based on your connection. If you have a dial-up service, choose the 56K version. If ISDN or cable or DSL, choose the ISDN. If you are on a LAN, choose LAN.
The rest of the information about the teleconference is left in its original pre-conference tense: Discussion will focus on how libraries can seize opportunities to make their reference services central to the information lives of users. Says Janes: "I see the last several years as the most profound period in the history of reference work. Nearly every aspect of the work has been re-examined, called into question, rethought and revisited as the contexts in which it goes on change.” Issues to be discussed include privacy, collaboration, customer service, staff training and organizational changes.
