| Linda
Slusar, cofounder of the Soaring to Excellence Teleconferences,
is the coordinator of the Library Technical Assistants program
at College of DuPage and a full-time professor in the program.
In addition to course planning and development for the LTA
Program, Ms. Slusar also provides advising for LTA students,
and has expanded the college’s course offerings to include
internet courses, two-way video courses, and satellite teleconferences.
Ms. Slusar was voted the winner of Library Mosaics "Supporter
of Support Staff" for the year 2000, and is devoted to
providing educational opportunities for library staff. |

| Debra
Wilcox Johnson has appeared in numerous Soaring to
Excellence teleconferences. She teaches, writes, and consults
in the areas of management, personnel issues, technical services,
library issues, and training of each category of library worker.
Dr. Johnson works with libraries of every type and size throughout
the United States. Both her practical approach to library
issues and her ability to involve participants make her an
ideal teleconference participant. Deb Johnson's combination
of useful information and humor will create a relaxed and
information-packed training experience. |

Scott Brandt, a.k.a. Techman, is an assistant professor
of library and information service at Purdue University. In
addition to training, teaching and doing research, Scott Brandt
is a nationally known presenter of workshops that apply new
models of learning to training on Internet-related topics.
He is one of the organizers of the annual Computers in Libraries
conference. |

| Joan
Budilovsky has been studying, practicing, and teaching
Yoga for 20 years. She has taught classes at College of DuPage,
and numerous organizations and health clubs. Ms. Budilovsky
has developed classes and learning materials, as well as co-authored
books, on yoga, meditation, and message. Currently, she writes
a newspaper advice column for Liberty Suburban Newspapers
and teaches yoga at Columbia College. She also gives seminars
around the globe, teaching yoga, meditation, and massage as
avenues in stress reduction. |

| Sharon
L. Comstock, M. A., M.L.S., and Ph.D. candidate in
the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, researches information and
technology cultures in K-16 learning environments. She is
currently a graduate researcher with the National Center for
Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at UIUC, and is collaborating
with the University of Queensland, Australia, University of
Chicago Web Institute for Teachers, and College of DuPage
in separate projects studying the use of visualization tools
in science and mathematics, cybraries, and library technologies
that serve youth. |

| Yolanda
J. Cuesta specializes in helping libraries and other
non-profit organizations serve ethnic and culturally diverse
communities. Prior to starting her own consulting business,
Yolanda was Chief of Library Development Services and Ethnic
Services Consultant for the California State Library. She
is a member of ALA; the California Library Association; the
American Marketing Association; and REFORMA, the National
Association to Promote Library Services to the Spanish-Speaking.

| Linda
S. Dobb is the Executive Vice President of Bowling
Green State University (BGSU), responsible for Office of the
Chief Information Officer, University Libraries, Continuing
and Extended Education, Office of Equity, Diversity and Immigration
Services, the University's public television station (WBGU-PBS),
Northwest Ohio Educational Technology (NWOET) and Human Resources.
She is a frequent speaker and writer on issues relating to
library management, copyright, fundraising, and technology.
Within her profession, Ms. Dobbs serves on several committees
of the American Library Association and she is President of
the Library Administration and Management Association for
2002 - 2003. |

| Dr.
David R. Dowell is the Director of Learning Resources
at Cuesta College in the San Luis Obispo County Community
College District. Dr. Dowell was the chairman of the American
Library Association Task Force to Revise Criteria Statement
for Training Library/Media Technical Assistants from 1995-97.He
is the author of numerous books and publications, including
Introduction to Libraries and Information with Denise Fourie. |

Erbes is the Assistant Director of the Bensenville
Community Public Library District. Bill has presented workshops
on using the Internet throughout the United States for such
groups as the Public Library Association, the American Association
of School Librarians, the Library and Information Technology
Association, and the Illinois Library Association. In addition
to his work at Bensenville, Bill has made a number of Soaring
to Excellence presentations, and occasionally teaches at College
of DuPage and the Graduate School of Library and Information
Sciences at Dominican University. |

| Cheri
Erdman has been a counselor at COD since 1981. Dr.
Erdman has created and taught several personal development
courses with Field and Interdisciplinary Studies at College
of DuPage. She is an internationally known expert in body
image issues and is the author of two books, Nothing to Lose
and Live Large. |

| Jane
Flagello is a personal and corporate coach, and has
also served as a senior Professor of Management and Business
at DeVry Institute of Technology. She is the author of numerous
articles related to coaching, and has given numerous speeches
and seminar on this subject. |

| Donna
Fryer has been in the Information Industry for 15
years. After obtaining her stock broker’s license, she
was recruited to help LexisNexis’ Legal and Accounting
clients find information on finances, public records, businesses,
taxes, and laws. She also helped produce video training material
for LexisNexis’ Sales Force and trained professionals
on how to conduct efficient research. Donna has spoken before
numerous groups, including WebSearch University, on Web tools
that can make life easier. |

Gillen has written a number of articles concerning
library staff, including, "To Live and Die an LA: Career
Paths and Professional Development of the Library Assistant,"
and "What Defines a Professional? A Library Support Staff
Point of View," Mr. Gillen is currently an agency training
and development specialist with the New York State Training
Council. |

| Michael
Gorman is Dean of Library Services at the Henry Madden
Library, California State University, Fresno. He has taught
at library schools in Britain and in the United States--most
recently at the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr.
Gorman is the first editor of the Anglo-American cataloguing
rules, second edition (1978) and of the revision of that work
(1988); and is the author of The concise AACR2, 3rd edition
(1999), Future libraries: dreams, madness, and reality (co-written
with Walt Crawford), and Our enduring values, winner of ALA’s
2001 Highsmith award for the best book on librarianship. He
has also authored hundreds of articles in professional and
scholarly journals; written or contributed chapters to a number
of books, and given numerous presentations at international,
national, and state conferences. |

| Kathy
Henderson is a physical therapist for the Sheboygan
Falls School District who works with students from age 3 up
to age 21. She has also been the administrator of two outpatient
physical therapy clinics in the Detroit, Michigan area since
1988. Ms. Henderson has taken numerous continuing education
seminars on dealing with back and neck pain and has treated
many patients with those complaints. |

Penny
Mandziara started her library career as a circulation
clerk at the Bensenville Public Library, and received her
LTA certification from College of DuPage. Ms. Mandziara is
currently the Library/School Liaison for Bensenville, and
has appeared on several Soaring to Excellence programs, and
was the
host of an informative video “What Every Parent Needs
to Know About the Worldwide Web.” |

| Edward
Martinez has been employed as the public access librarian
at El Camino College in Torrance, CA, since 1984. His background
includes several support staff positions and public and community
college library work in Hawaii. Martinez is editor for Library
Mosaics, the magazine for library support staff. He is nationally
known as a champion of the support staff movement. |

| Michael
McColgin is the Conservation Officer with the State
of Arizona Department of Library, Archives and Public Records,
State Capital History and Archives Division. Mr. McColgin
is well-known for his expertise in conserving paper documents
and disaster recovery. He has numerous publications concerning
disaster prevention, planning, and recovery; as well as preserving
paper and photographs. |

| Rob
McGee holds graduate degrees in both library and
computing science and has been at the forefront of library
automation since 1965. He produced system requirements, system
designs, technical plans, and library automation while at
the University of Chicago. Mr. McGee founded RMG Consultants,
Inc. in 1980, a consulting firm that helps libraries plan,
procure, and implement automated systems. |

| Daneen
Richardson is a Reference Librarian at the Graham
Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Illinois and Coordinator
of the Heart of Illinois Library Consortium. The Heart of
Illinois Library Association is a not-for-profit organization
whose purpose is to encourage cooperation and professional
development for health information specialists and to promote
health sciences library services and resources to information
professionals, health care professionals, health educators,
and the public. |

| Arlene
Farber Sirkin has an MLS from Columbia University
and an MBA from the Wharton School. She has given seminars
for and consulted with information professionals throughout
the United States, Canada, and Europe. She is currently president
of Washington Resource Consulting Group, Inc., Bethesda, Maryland,
and a member of the American Society of Association Executives. |

Lorelle Swader
is the Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment
Director (HRDR) at the American Library Association. She
is also the Library Instructional Round Table (LIRT) Liaison
Officer, and a Steering Committee member the 3rd Congress
on Professional Education (COPE III).

| Kathleen
Weibel is the Director of Staff Development at Chicago
Public Library. She is a popular conference speaker and an
advocate for library paraprofessionals. Her workshop, I Work
in a Library, but I’m Not a Librarian.Ms Weibel has
also taught at the Dominican University Graduate School of
Library and Information Science. |

| Janis
Williams started her library career as a circulation
clerk at the Bensenville Public Library. She earned her LTA
certification, and is currently employed at Elmhurst College
as an academic advisor. Ms. Williams has participated in past
Soaring programs and has previously served on the planning
committee for Reaching Forward, a regional yearly conference
of library support staff in Illinois. |
