Student Spotlight: Mike Todorovic
Mike Todorovic was a meteorologist in the Navy for more than three years. When thinking about a career, he decided upon engineering.
"I chose civil engineering because I like to build and am something of a tradesman at heart," he said.
Like many others, Todorovic chose College of DuPage because it was the most convenient and economical option. And like many others, he is discovering far more than expected.
"COD is helping by providing me with a quality two-year education while allowing me to stay close to home as long as possible," he said. "It is also providing me the opportunity to meet other future engineering school students, offering new friendships and the ability to network in the future."
During the summer of 2013, Todorovic landed an internship at Primera Engineering, a large design and construction management firm in downtown Chicago. He then is transferring to the University of Illinois-Chicago where he will pursue a bachelor's in Civil Engineering. After that, the possibilities are endless.
"My ultimate educational goal is up in the air," he said. "It remains to be seen if I will pursue a graduate degree because I wish to be a working engineer. If I don't, there is a strong possibility I'll pursue a double bachelor's in a closely related engineering field like Geotechnical, Environmental or even a Construction Management degree. For my career goals, I want to own a consulting company."
