Student Spotlight: Megan Sweeney
Major: Associate in Arts
Interests: Student Ambassadors
When Megan Sweeney was younger, she loved playing "school" with her family and friends.
"I was always the teacher and making up lesson plans and homework assignments for everyone," she explained. "My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Berardi, had a great influence on me. She let me help her out around the classroom and, during the summer before school would start up again, she would always ask me to help her set up her classroom for the upcoming school year."
Still, Sweeney wasn't sure whether she wanted a career in teaching or something else. But after starting at College of DuPage, she decided to pursue a career in education and has earned her Associate in Arts degree. After transferring to Eastern Illinois University, however, she found another passion, and her major is Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations, and she's involved in the Public Relations Student Society of America.
During her time at College of DuPage, she was involved in a variety of activities and is thankful for the opportunities she had.
"I was encouraged to join the Student Ambassador Program. After joining, I really enjoyed it because I met new people, made new friends, and became very involved with the school and the activities the school provided," she said.
In fact, Sweeney is sorry that she won't be around th enjoy and experience the expansion occurring on campus.
"I will miss attending COD because I enjoyed my time there," she said. "My heartfelt thanks goes to all faculty and staff at College of DuPage for helping me further my education and making my time at COD a most enjoyable and memorable experience."
