Student Spotlight: Grace Miller
Major: Associate in Science
Grace Miller has wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine ever since she learned the meaning of the word “veterinarian.”
“I remember sitting in my first grade classroom watching a nature video thinking about how I would love to work with animals,” she said. “Since then my passion for ecology and wildlife biology has only intensified with each passing semester.”
She chose College of DuPage because it provided an affordable and quality start to her college education. Miller also was named a Presidential Scholarship, which included full tuition for academically gifted students.
Miller was especially impressed by the caliber of her professors.
“I had phenomenal and passionate professors who genuinely cared about my goals and future education, which made my time at COD an extremely enjoyable experience,” she said. “With their guidance, I made connections and was offered opportunities that I know I would not have received elsewhere.”
In 2016, Miller – a member of Phi Theta Kappa – was one of two College of DuPage students nominated for the All-USA Community College Academic Team. After earning her Associate in Science degree, she is transferring to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to major in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology on the pre-vet track. She eventually practice veterinarian medicine.
She encourages other students to maximize their experiences at College of DuPage.
“Take every opportunity that is handed to you, because you never know where it will lead.”
