Student Spotlight: Kaitlyn Heimann
Major: Paralegal Studies
Kaitlyn Heimann has always been interested in law and wanted a career where her work could help someone.
“I chose College of DuPage because the school has a very supportive and active roll in student success,” she said. “COD had a welcoming environment and I felt comfortable when on campus.”
The Paralegal Studies program also pushed Heimann to be more successful.
“Through all the Paralegal Club events and meeting guest speakers, it gave me a good sense of what I really want out of a career and the person I need to be to achieve that,” she said.
Having earned her Paralegal Studies certificate, Heimann would like to become a certified paralegal through NALA (the National Association of Legal Assistants) and pursue additional certifcations in order to build her resume. She would like to become a head paralegal at a prestigious, well-known firm.
Heimann is glad that she selected the Paralegal Studies program at College of DuPage and encourages others interested in a paralegal career to go for it.
“I came into this program after taking three years off of school and it was very rough getting started,” she said. “But I found a really supportive group of people. All of the teachers are amazing, and they really take an interest in your work.”
