Student Spotlight: Kristofer Ceredon
Major: Dental Hygiene
Kristofer Ceredon was enrolled at Benedictine University in Lisle when he took one of his prerequisite classes at College of DuPage during the summer of 2004.
"Instead of spending a large amount of money at a four-year university, I figured it would be smarter to also come to COD," he said. "Taking some prerequisites slowly helped me narrow down the field I want to be in, which is Science."
Ceredon graduated from Benedictine University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Health Science and a minor in Fine Arts. He decided to enter the Dental Hygiene program at COD that fall, and he earned his associate's degree in 2011.
"I've been surrounded by dedicated teachers and staff at COD who have been there for me since day one," Ceredon said. "They have shared their experiences and wisdom about the profession as they guided the students through the rigorous coursework."
After working as a dental hygienist to gain more clinical experience, Ceredon moved to California and is now attending Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
"I am able to apply my knowledge that I gained in Dental Hygiene school to the courses that I am taking in dental school," he said. "Because of the guidance I received from the Dental Hygiene faculty, I feel more prepared clinically and academically as I become acclimated to the rigorous coursework of dental school."
