Faculty Spotlight: Carol Sturz

Carol Sturz
Program: Library and Information
Technology
While gathering information on the great artists for a class she was teaching, Carol Sturz discovered that she enjoyed research.
"Since I also liked helping people, I decided to go for a second master's degree, this time in Library Science," she said.
Before coming to College of DuPage, Sturz was a library media specialist in Illinois K-12 schools for more than 20 years and worked part-time in college and university libraries. She also was an adjunct faculty member in COD's Library and Information Technology program for nearly 13 years, even teaching remotely when she lived in Indiana for a short time.
Now she is a full-time faculty member and coordinator of the program and enjoys working with her students.
"I like helping people to empower themselves," she said. "I get excited when students realize they can learn and use new ideas. I want them to become more creative, flexible and not afraid to learn new technologies.
"I'm also inspired by the students who juggle jobs, families, and other personal struggles in addition to their classes to reach their goal of a new career."
