Man’s pursuit of money and power can lead to environmental devastation
and abuses of human rights. But at the heart of Larry Lansburgh’s
presentation is a surprise and a cause for optimism. He shows how small
groups of people, especially the Achuar, indigenous Amazonian people
of Ecuador, confronted the money and power of multinational corporations — and
won. In their fight, it became abundantly clear that another global
reality exists, as well: the power and effectiveness of small groups
of committed people.
Lansburgh is an Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning
documentary film maker. His presentation will include scenes from
his documentary, “Dream
People of the Amazon.”
Admission is free. Tickets are required. Please call the McAninch
