Arun Gandhi
Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
Few names in world history evoke as powerful an image of integrity, courage, social harmony, and hope, as does the name Gandhi. Arun Gandhi, the grandson of the legendary spiritual leader, Mahatma Gandhi, has spent his life, much like his grandfather, educating people about the causes of violence and promoting a deeper understanding of nonviolence. Arun Gandhi offers firsthand insights into one of the world‚s greatest and most influential leaders whose struggle for nonviolence is as relevant and significant today as it was at the time of India's struggle for independence more than 60 years ago.

Stephen Prothero
Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 7:30 p.m.
There is a paradox in the American psyche: Americans are deeply religious at the same time that they are profoundly ignorant about religions. Stephen Prothero, author of Religious Literacy, believes that religious illiteracy is dangerous because religion is the most volatile constituent of culture and unfortunately, often one of the greatest forces for evil. Prothero argues both the constitutionality and necessity of teaching about religion in public schools and higher education with an emphasis on spreading knowledge, not inculcating values.
