Rashid Khalidi
What does the United States need to do in order to help negotiate
peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis?
Rashid Khalidi is professor of Middle East history and director of the
Center for International Studies at the University of Chicago, president
of the American Committee on Jerusalem, and past adviser to the Palestinian
delegation to the Madrid and Washington Arab-Israeli peace negotiations
from October 1991 to June 1993.

The Israeli Perspective
Elie Rekhess
This is the second in a two-part series on the Middle East, presenting
both the Palestinian and Israeli points of view.
Elie Rekhess is a senior research fellow at the Moshe Dayan Center for
Middle Eastern and Africa Studies at Tel Aviv University. He is also
director of the Program on Arab Politics in Israel, which was established
at the Center in 1996 in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Rekhess specializes in the political history of the Arabs in Israel,
Islamic resurgence, the West Bank and Palestinian affairs.
