Lester Brown will discuss the vision and road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy, described in his path-breaking book, Plan B: Rescuing a Planet under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble.
Brown is described by the Washington Post as “one of the world’s most influential thinkers.” The Library of Congress has requested his papers, noting that his writings “have strongly affected thinking about problems of world population and resources.”

Brown has been awarded more than 20 honorary degrees, is a MacArthur Fellow and is the recipient of many other honors, including the 1987 United Nations’ Environment Prize, the 1989 World Wide Fund for Nature Gold Medal and the 1994 Blue Planet Prize for his “exceptional contributions to solving global environmental problems.”
