Try before you buy. Download these free demonstration programs from College of DuPage. This way you can see the content of each one and decide if it meets your educational needs.

All files are in a compressed format. You need an application such as WinZip or PKunzip to decompress these applications. Follow these directions for downloading our demos. Printing out these directions will help with the downloading process. The files must be downloaded to your hard disk, unzipped, and the program installed before you can run the demonstration programs. The demonstration programs only run on intel-based computers.

Domestic Violence
A multimedia program that uses a blend of text, graphics and video to teach support for victims of domestic violence.

Note:  If you are downloading these larger demos using a very fast internet connection, such as a T1 or a T3 line, or DSL or cable modem, you should experience no difficulties, although the download may take a considerably long time. If you have an internet connection that uses a regular phone line, the demos will take a long time to download and you may encounter lost-connection difficulties. If your connection is a phone line, you may prefer to call 800-290-4474 and have the demo mailed to you.

After you have unzipped the files, the program must be installed on the hard disk of  your computer using the setup.exe program included in the zip file.

To unzip the Windows-based programs, ChartSmart II, TLC Medical Center and Medication Maestro: Giving Intraveneous Medications, you will need to use WinZip which can be downloaded at http://www.winzip.com. For all other programs, follow the directions below.
  1. You will need to download the demo files to your hard disk. Create a folder on your hard disk to hold the demo files (e.g., Demos).

    You can do this while still online if you:
    Minimize your online program, such as AOL, by clicking on the minimize button in the upper right corner of your screen.
    Click on My Computer.
    Click on one of your hard drives, such as C.
    Click on file.
    Click on new.
    Click on folder.
    Change or rename the folder to an appropriate title, such as Demos.
    Maximize your online program.

  2. Click on the demo on this page that you would like to download and direct the files to the folder you have created.

  3. When you are ready to install the programs, the files must be unzipped using pkunzip.exe. If you do not have a pkunzip.exe file, you may download the file from the PKware web site at http://www.pkware.com. When you download the file, you can also direct it into the folder you have created.

  4. This pkunzip.exe is a DOS file and you will need to be in the MS-DOS mode to unzip the files.You can do this in the following way:
    Click on the MS-DOS prompt.
    Go to the folder that you created.
    Type pkunzip (program).zip — In place of the word "program" type the name of the zip file that you wish to unzip, such as pkunzip chartdem.zip.

  5. After the files are unzipped, return to Windows by typing exit at the DOS Prompt.

  6. From the Windows Run command box, type and enter c:\(directory)\setup to install the demo files (such as c:\Demos\setup). This will install the demo in Windows along with its icon.

  7. To start the demo, click on the program's icon in Windows.
     
  8. If you are having difficulty downloading the demo software, free demos are available via the mail.
