Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction

Hours: 24
Tuition: $395

Program Information:

This hands-on program is designed for law enforcement personnel, coroners or medical examiners who have responsibilities related to crime scene investigation and evidence identification, collection and preservation. Engage in live fire exercises and focus on shooting situations most commonly dealt with by law enforcement. Learn how to manage a shooting scene from the perspective of an evidence technician and explore the theory and mathematics of bullet trajectory while conducting mock crime scene practicals.
The course is built upon a curriculum in keeping with principles laid out by the International Association for Identification (IAI). Its structure will assist those students in obtaining the IAI Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) certification and will provide the necessary foundation for SLEA's advanced Crime Scene Technician/Investigator courses.

Topics Include:

• Documenting and photographing a shooting crime, indoors and outdoors
• Diagramming a shooting scene with dowelling, string and/or lasers
• Identifying radial and concentric fractures on glass
• Making general objective statements concerning estimated angles of impact showing the direction of force
