Student Leadership Academy

The DuPage Area Student Leadership Academy is designed to link local high school students with members of our local business community to help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace.

The academy is made possible thanks to the support of the DuPage Area Education-to-Careers/Tech Prep grant program and support from area educational institutions like Lewis University, Midwestern University, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) – Rice Campus, Benedictine University, ITT Tech, DeVry University, Elmhurst College and College of DuPage.

“Each situation reviewed during the sessions related to real-life events that I might face in the future.” York High School student

We also have some outstanding business partners like Cray Kaiser, Ltd., MRxi Corporation, and Jerry Tatar Law. to name a few. To keep this program successful, we need your support and expertise. We have four sessions throughout the year that focus on diversity and individual styles, business attire, meeting and greeting, first impressions, time management, how to choose a major or career, purpose for writing a resume, cover and thank you letter, interviewing skills, workplace attitude, dealing with change, and using manners and proper etiquette in a business setting.

“The Academy taught me to be responsible, to respect my peers and to celebrate others success rather than criticize their problems. I can pursue any career and implement my business skills and background.” Westmont High School student
