Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI)
The Psychology Majors Panel of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) strongly encourages community college students to complete an A.A. degree prior to transfer. In addition to the IAI General Education Core Curriculum, a maximum of three courses beyond General Psychology are guaranteed for transfer by the Baccalaureate Majors agreement under the following conditions:
If the receiving institution offers the course as a lower diversion course, then course-for-course transfer is guaranteed
OR
If the receiving institution does not offer the course, or does not offer the course at the lower level, the student will receive elective, lower division, psychology credit for the course.
Check the Course Descriptions. Courses designated “IAI” are among those listed under the agreement for guaranteed transfer. Courses not so designated may still transfer with decisions being made on a school-by-school basis.
Academic advisers are knowledgeable of specific transfer requirements at various colleges and universities, and students should regularly consult with their advisers throughout their academic careers.
