Career Opportunities

The Radiography (X-ray) program at College of DuPage educates students with didactic, laboratory and clinical experience. Graduates from this program meet state competency licensure and/or certification requirements defined by law for whole body radiography. In addition, students are trained to deliver compassionate patient care and to function as integral, effective members of a health care team.

The primary goal of the two-year Radiography program at College of DuPage is to educate students to become competent radiographers, capable of functioning in any environment. To meet this goal, the college provides a complete, up-to-date, competency-based curriculum. In addition to learning radiologic procedures, students are taught to think and act independently, and are prepared to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) credentialing examination for radiography. In addition to the ARRT, some states, such as Illinois, require a licensure as a condition of employment.

Program graduates are prepared for employment in a variety of settings nationwide. Entry-level salaries are usually in the upper $30s. Salaries for areas of advanced imaging are $45,000 or more.

The Radiography program at College of DuPage is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee in Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 29 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60606-2901, www.jrcert.org.

College of DuPage is now partnering with AfterCollege Job Resource Center, a service which provides a list of available jobs for Radiography students.
