Congratulations to the College of DuPage Photojournalism and Portrait students who participated in the 11th Annual Easter Seals Photography Exhibition: “Celebrations”, which opens Wednesday, October 27th, at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region in Villa Park.
This year 25 families from Easter Seals collaborated with our students to produce the show. Students in the photojournalism class produced printed photo essays as well as Sound Slides multimedia stories, which are featured on this page. The Portrait students made environmental portraits of their subjects on location.
These images remain on display in the lobby of Easter Seal for one year. Besides illustrating how C.O.D. students give back to their community, this class public service project is a visual acknowledgment of our multi-talented students. The 24” x 36” photographs also serve a very important purpose for Easter Seals and the families they serve.
Mary Alice D’Arcy, president and CEO, Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region, shares, “These photographs give our families hope that their child, although diagnosed with a special need, can still achieve much in their life and have a chance to participate in everyday activities. For people who see the photographs, it reminds them that our services are offered to children who are children first. It just happens that their child’s body works differently than some other kids.”
In addition to the 2010 show at Easter Seals, last year’s exhibit: “Our Journey” will be showcased at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago, during the Easter Seals National Convention November 4th - 6th. After the convention several photos will be moved to the Easter Seals Headquarters office located at the Willis Tower in Chicago for approximately six months.
“We are so excited to be in this partnership with C.O.D.,” says Susan Rudigier Mchabcheb, Vice President of Development at Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region. “Thank you for making this project one of such impact for all involved.”
