Congratulations
to all the College of DuPage Photojournalism
and Portrait students
who participated in the 9th annual Easter Seals Exhibition, “The Book of
Firsts”, which
opens Wednesday, October 22nd at Easter Seals DuPage in Villa Park.
This year 24 families collaborated with
our students to produce the show. Students
in the
Photojournalism class produced printed
photo essays as well as Sound Slides
multimedia
stories, which are featured below. The
Portrait students made environmental
portraits
of their subjects on location as well
as in studios.
These images serve an important purpose
for Easter Seals families. Mary Alice
D’Arcy,
President of Easter Seals DuPage, says “Often
families who visit our center for the
first
time have just received their child’s
diagnosis and are concerned about their
child’s future and abilities.
These
photographs give them hope that their
child, although diagnosed with a special
need, can still achieve much in their
life and have a chance to participate
in everyday activities. For people who
see the photographs, it reminds them
that our services are offered to children
who are children first. It just happens
that their child’s body works differently
than some other kids.”
